What are Package Settings?
The package settings are used to calculate the total weight of the shipping including the product and the weight of the package itself.
For example, if the total weight for the products that the customer is trying to buy is 1.8 kg and the box to send that was 0.3 kg, the total weight of the shipping would be 2.1 kg.
Let's say there are 2 shipping methods, shipping method A which is cheap but the total shipping weight has to be under 2 kg. And shipping method B which could be used up to 20 kg but the shipping fee is significantly higher. Which shipping method will be chosen?
If the package settings are not set
If the package settings are not set, both shipping methods A and B will be displayed to the customer and the customer will most likely choose the cheaper method, A.
However, the total weight is actually over 2 kg so shipping method A could not be used.
In order to ship the product, shipping method B has to be selected and the difference in the price leaves a bad impression for the customers.
If the package settings are set
If the package settings are set, the packaging weight will be put into consideration and only the shipping method B which could be used up to 20 kg will be displayed to the customer and the customer can smoothly choose the right shipping method.
How to change the settings
The package settings are based on the product weight.
Set the minimum, maximum and the packaging weight so that the total weight consists of the packaging weight as well.
You can click “add rule” to add different kinds of packages.
The following is the preview for the settings:
[Example]
0g ~ 2000g: 200g
2001g ~ 6000g: 300g
6001g ~ Blank: 600g
If the column is left blank, anything above the minimum price will be selected.
